Job Description:
Are you curious about the field of education but lack experience? Are you looking for paid training to work with youth and gain the skills to be a successful classroom teacher or sustainability educator?
Spark-Y is hiring an Education Apprentice to support in-classroom sustainable education facilitation with youth. As an Education Apprentice you will shadow and co-teach with full-time and experienced Spark-Y Sustainability Educators in K-8 classrooms and workshops, exploring topics such as STEM, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. You will support facilitation of hands-on activities, individual and group instruction, and grading. You will report to Spark-Y Program Manager.

Job Responsibilities:
Complete a two-week training period.
Attend and co-teach at in-classroom, afterschool, or workshop learning experiences.
Engage youth in hands-on learning experiences.
Provide individual and group instruction using Spark-Y curriculum.
Grade and assess student progress.
Attend programming education meetings with Spark-Y Educators and Program Manager.
Eligibility:
18-24 years in age.
Demonstrated ability to present information to individuals and groups.
Non-Essential Experience:
Knowledge or education in education, biology, sustainability, agriculture, or entrepreneurship.
Experience working with youth.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Compensation: $500 stipend at the conclusion of training period and $15/hr after completion of training.
Certifications: Urban Agriculture Certification, Entrepreneurship Certification, and Hand and Power Tool Safety Certification.
Travel and expenses: Metro Transit Bus Pass upon request.
